Kick-off Fall with some Boots

With sinking temperatures, men’s fall trends have been warming up and are finally on the rise, especially boots.

Several designers’ Fall 2010 collections feature countless ensembles including the shoe usually reserved for hiking and hunting. Yes, the type of footwear has always been “in” during autumn, but the key to looking fashionable is in how you wear them.

Designers weaved military looks within their pieces, featuring dark colors (blacks, grays, rich, dark browns), leather and brass, metallic accents. The combat boot mixes heavy yet neat elements, fighting and shooting for nothing short of style.

I used to think combat boots were clumpy but when worn like the models above, they take on a light, neat air. Dolce & Gabbana’s fall collection consisted mostly of boots and other designers included some as well.
For those who don’t like the heavy, somewhat dark look, other options exist. Looking for a more urban appearance? These street-smart storm boots by Converse All Star feature double layers for variation and comfortable style when on-the-go. I love their duality; they look sleek as well as comfortable.

The warm chocolate color and plaid fabric interior complement one another nicely – playing with various textures is another element to include in your outfits. Pair them with gray, red, or black skinny  jeans to compliment the shoe; classic blue jeans, preferably fitted ones, work as well.
Can’t stop wearing your favorite Sperry Top-Siders? Stay afloat amidst a sea of similar-looking shoes this season with the brand’s ‘7-Eye Boot.’ I think I might buy myself a pair because boat shoes have always been my favorite spring/summer shoe. I love how the natural, coarse leather laces differ from the shiny material of the black boot.

Tuck your pant legs within the shoe (slightly untied so the tongue can hang forward) for an edgier look – revealing the lacework is vital. Wear white skinnies to emphasize these shoes and maintain a classic, preppy look if that’s what you’re going for.

The problem I have with Converse, and I've had several pair of the same style, is that they self destruct in about 2 years. The rubber cracks and you have to toss them. I think for something that costs over $40 they should have a bit more shelf life.
