Twenty-three-year-old Barbados native Rihanna certainly knows how to live her life – after all, she’s a self-proclaimed “paper chaser.” But as of late, she has entered into the realm of fashion, turning herself into a fashion chaser as well. According to Yahoo News, Rihanna will serve as executive producer of a new television show (which is currently unnamed) that brings less known designers together to compete for a lovely prize: becoming her personal dresser for her performances during London’s Wireless festival this July. Those interested can tune in to Sky Living HD, a British channel with exclusive rights to the show.
A celebrity who has appeared on the covers of several fashion magazines and currently the spokesmodel for Armani jeans, the singer is becoming an even more influential force in the fashion industry by participating in the growth of future designers. Hailing from Barbados, one of many islands in the Caribbean, Rihanna successfully incorporates island aesthetics into some of her looks. As such, she has joined forces with high-end designers from the Caribbean as well like Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta in fostering respect for the islands while intensifying their influence upon fashion. Not only is she serving stifling style, but a hot dish of props to the Caribbean as well. Well done, Rihanna.
