Howdy, my confidants,
Serving as an assistant public relations director for University Fashion Group means parading across Austin, Texas, with flyers in my tapestry bag. Why? The student organization at The University of Texas organizes an annual fashion show held each April so senior textiles and apparel students can feature their designs. This year’s show, “Transcend,” takes place April 18 at the Frank Erwin Center, and one can never publicize too much!

Hello, pole. How does that “Transcend” poster make you feel? I’d say it makes for a lovely look. So fitting.
On Saturday, I walked up and down South Congress Avenue with fellow assistant PR director, Brandon, visiting local boutiques with pamphlets about the show. Whenever we saw a pole, I had to suppress my desire to dance on it and paste a flyer instead. How student-ly of me!
Easy, breezy weather and a hint of warmth called for a comfy tee. What better way to publicize the organization and fashion show than wearing a nifty University Fashion Group shirt? Slipping on my trusty wingtips made for a friendly Western pair with a vintage belt boasting a silver buckle. A tapestry bag featuring a Native American print completed the casual look, adding some well-needed color and texture.
Here’s a shout out to all the friendly stores that accepted our pamphlets and agreed to help our organization publicize, from Maya Star, Kendra Scott, By George, Feathers, STAG and others.
More than 5,000 people come to the show each year. Brad Goreski, Rachel Zoe’s former stylist and star of Bravo TV series “It’s a Brad, Brad World” attended last year’s show, “Contour,” and Cameron Silver of “Dukes of Melrose” and Daniel Escobar, Project Runway designer, are scheduled to visit this year.

Want proof? Hi Brad. Look at me next to him in my cobalt blue V-neck along with my friend Whitney. So young, so facial hair-free, so contoured after walking in the show.
If you’re around Austin Thursday, treat yourself to the free show open to the public. Local publications rave about it and Brad Goreski tweeted about it, so you should see what the commotion is all about. See you there!
